A winding-up petition against Bury has been adjourned until next month to allow the club to be sold.

The Shakers, who won promotion to League One this season, were in the High Court on Wednesday where it was heard that there are three prospective buyers for the club.

The case was adjourned until June 19 to allow Bury owner Steve Dale time to strike a deal to sell.

The case was originally brought by the club’s former head coach Chris Brass but was taken over by HM Revenue & Customs, which is owed approximately 277,000.

The winding-up petition is the second issued against Bury this year.

In February, HMRC lodged a petition at the Insolvency and Companies Court seeking the limited company’s winding up over an unpaid tax bill for an undisclosed amount.

Dale was announced as the club’s new owner in December last year.
