Magpies ace reveals new deal talks
Matt Ritchie says talks are taking place with Newcastle and he is hoping to put pen-to-paper on a new deal at the club.
The 29-year-old’s future remains shrouded in doubt as he continues to be linked with a move away from the club, with both Stoke City and former club Bournemouth said to be keen.
However Ritchie says he is determined to stay at St James’ Park and has revealed talks are taking place right now regards a possible new contract.
His current one runs until the summer of 2021, but Ritchie is hoping to pen a new one.
‘There are discussions at the moment – hopefully, we can get them resolved,’ he said when asked about his future.
‘This is a massive football club – I’m really enjoying playing for it – so until I’m told my services are no longer required, I’m fighting for my life, as I do every week to perform.
‘Who knows what the future holds, but until I’m told my services are no longer required, I’ll do everything for the football club.’
