Matthews on Wednesday’s summer shopping list
Sheffield Wednesday are considering a summer move for Sunderland defender Adam Matthews, reports claim.
The Owls missed out on a Championship play-off place this season and Steve Bruce, who officially took charge of the club in February, is looking to strengthen his defensive options during the upcoming transfer window.
It is claimed the former Wigan, Sunderland and Hull City boss is looking at the possibility of signing Wales international Matthews, who is set to be available on a free come July 1.
The 27-year-old right-back has been at the Stadium of Light since 2015 and he has been a key first-team fixture in League One this season, making 23 appearances and scoring one goal.
Wednesday are hopeful they can persuade the defender to make the switch to Hillsborough although a move will likely depend on whether the Black Cats get through the League One play-offs.
