Dalman gives update on Nantes talks
Cardiff City chairman Mehmet Dalman has provided an update on the club’s ongoing talks with Ligue 1 side Nantes.
The Bluebirds signed striker Emiliano Sala from Les Canaris in January but the Argentine tragically died in a plane crash before he could feature for the club.
There is still to be a settlement between the pair, with the uncertainty surrounding the incident leading to calls for clearer legislation to be introduced by the footballing authorities regarding transfers.
Cardiff and Nantes have been trying to solve their transfer dispute but Dalman says they are still to come to an agreement.
He said: ‘We have taken a different approach and said: ‘Look, this is a tragic event, it’s a £15m dispute we are having here – isn’t there a way where the two clubs can compromise and turn our attention to do something from the family?’ ‘Two months ago Fifa encouraged the clubs to get together and find a way forward.
I have tried.
But Nantes made it clear that they are not prepared to entertain that at the moment.’
