Montella banned for two matches
Fiorentina boss Vincenzo Montella will miss his side’s relegation battle with Genoa after being given a two-game ban.
La Viola can still be relegated from Serie A this weekend but they will need to fight on without Montella.
The former AC Milan manager was sent off during Fiorentina’s 1-0 loss to Parma on Sunday after he made comments towards the officials.
Serie A’s disciplinary committee have now banned him for two games after he insulted the referees and for indirectly causing harm to a steward after punching an advertising hoarding.
Fiorentina have lost their last five league games and they need to avoid defeat against Genoa to stay in the top flight.
There is a three-point gap between 15th-placed Fiorentina and Genoa in 18th, while Empoli and Udinese are also not safe as it stands.
