Emery opens up on Mbappe and Real interest
Former Paris Saint-Germain boss Unai Emery has revealed that Kylian Mbappe wanted to sign for Real Madrid before eventually joining the Ligue 1 side.
Emery and the powers that be managed to convince the striker to sign for PSG, but he admits it was hard work as both Real and Barcelona were also in the hunt.
Mbappe is back on the radar of Real after openly admitting that he may pursue a new project sooner rather than later, and Emery’s words will no doubt add fuel to the fire.
‘At some point, everyone pushed at PSG,’ Emery revealed.
‘I even talked to him and his father to stay.
He wanted to choose Real Madrid, he also had a chance at Barcelona, but he wanted Madrid eyes closed.
‘Among everybody we convinced him about the project in France and made him stay.
We had to set money over the table, and that’s what we did.’
