Hammers linked with Medel
West Ham have once again been linked with a swoop for midfielder Gary Medel who is reportedly keen to leave Besiktas.
The 31-year-old has been with the Istanbul outfit since 2017, joining on a three-year deal following three seasons with Inter Milan.
The Hammers showed an interest in the January transfer window while Burnley was also mentioned as possible suitors in the winter but the Chile international remained in Turkey.
Medel has experience of Premier League football, having played for Cardiff City during their first unsuccessful foray into England’s top division in 2013-14 and it seems as though he is keen for more.
Milliyet are suggesting that the South American wants out of Vodafone Park and is using issues over unpaid wages as leverage to force a move to England.
The Besiktas’ board will hold talks with the player’s representatives at the end of the Super Lig season as they do not want to lose him for nothing.
Whether he arrives at the London Stadium ahead of next season only time will tell but the Chilean connection with boss Manuel Pellegrini can only help matters.
