Benitez rejects Marseille and Roma talks
According to reports, Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez has declined talks with both Marseille and Roma.
The Spaniard is out of contract next month and he has yet to agree fresh terms with owner Mike Ashley.
Magpies fans are desperate to see the former Liverpool coach remain at St James’ Park but they are worried that the longer talks go on, the less likely he is to sign.
Celtic have been linked with a move for Benitez but reports suggest the 59-year-old has now rejected two approaches from Europe.
Marseille finished sixth in Ligue 1 last season and they are looking for Benitez to steer them into a new era, while Roma are looking for a replacement for interim boss Claudio Ranieri.
However, Benitez appears ready to bide his time for now and has made it clear he wants to stay at Newcastle if he gets the assurances he wants as he looks to make his side more competitive in the Premier League next season.
