Inter Milan are reported to be on the verge of appointing Antonio Conte as their next manager and he is already planning his first signing.

The former Juventus boss has been out of work for the last 12 months after leaving Chelsea, but is now poised to return to management with Inter, if the latest reports are to be believed.

Luciano Spalletti remains at the helm for now and will be in charge of the final game of the season when Inter take on Empoli needing a win at the San Siro to guarantee Champions League football for the next campaign.

Whatever happens, Spalletti is expected to be axed and Conte has been lined up as his replacement.

The rumour mill has already gone into overdrive suggesting that Conte has told Inter officials he wants Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku as his first signing and would be willing to send Ivan Perisic the other way.

It is thought that Conte’s ideal job would be a return to Juve, but the Old Lady are exploring other options following the departure of Max Allegri.
