Ex-boss has Zanka on shortlist
Huddersfield Town defender Mathias ‘Zanka’ Jorgensen has been named as a target for David Wagner’s Schalke this summer.
German newspaper Bild claim Zanka’s name is on a list of targets for the Bundesliga club, who want to strengthen their defence with two new signings.
Hoffenheim’s Stefan Posch, Hannover 96’s Waldemar Anton and Fortuna Düsseldorf’s Kaan Ayhan are also on the reported shortlist.
Zanka, who has been called up to the full Denmark squad for their upcoming Euro 2020 qualifying matches, was a regular starter for Wagner and made 25 appearances for Town in all competitions this season.
But the 29-year-old made only four starts following Jan Siewert’s arrival at the club in January.
The Danes will host the Republic of Ireland on Friday June 7 followed by the visit of Georgia three days later.
