Nuno reveals backing for ‘fantastic football player’ Traore
Adama Traore has the backing of Nuno Espirito Santo despite enduring a disappointing first season in the Premier League at Wolves.
Nuno paid out a then club-record £18million to take the 23-year-old former Barcelona starlet from Middlesbrough in last summer’s transfer window.
And, while Traore can thrill supporters with his explosive pace, he only managed to score one goal in 36 appearances in all competitions for Wolves throughout the 2018-19 campaign.
His lack of end product resulted in Traore being largely used as a substitute in matches and it resulted in speculation that he could be offloaded in the transfer window.
However, Nuno has suggested that Traore remains a big part of his plans looking ahead, with some improvements required to get the best from him.
He said: ‘He has to be faster.
Faster with the ball.
It’s a lot of work, but I think we are doing well.
‘Not all the players who come have to have immediate success, immediately reach their highest point.
‘I still believe a lot of us will become better.
It’s about time, trust and confidence.
‘He’s a fantastic athlete.
He’s a super athlete and a fantastic football player.
Like all of us, he has learned.
‘The idea we have is to always improve the player.
If we are improving the player, we’re improving the team.’
