Wigan release Gibson and McManaman
Darron Gibson and Callum McManaman are among six players set to be released by Wigan at the end of their contracts this summer.
Former Manchester United midfielder Gibson joined the Latics on a free transfer ahead of the 2018-19 campaign and made 18 Sky Bet Championship appearances over the course of the campaign, while McManaman was also on a one-year deal at the DW Stadium.
Striker James Vaughan, midfielder Shaun McDonald and defender Jonas Olsson are also leaving the club, along with goalkeeper Dan Lavercombe.
Nick Powell, who has 92 league appearances for Wigan under his belt, has been offered fresh terms, as has Owen Evans, who was called up to Wales’ training squad this week.
Wigan finished 18th in the Championship, having won promotion from Sky Bet League One at the end of the previous season.
