Ipswich have signed Gillingham goalkeeper Tomas Holy on a two-year deal with the option of an extra 12 months.

The 27-year-old was an ever-present for the Gills as they staved off Sky Bet League One relegation last season and he has made a total of 107 appearances since joining the club in January 2017.

However, the former Czech Republic under-18 international will be remaining in English football’s third tier as he targets an immediate return to the Sky Bet Championship at Portman Road.

‘I enjoyed my two years at Gillingham and want to thank them for the opportunity they gave me but it feels the right time to take up a new challenge at Ipswich,’ Holy told Ipswich’s official website.

‘It’s a massive club and I’m looking forward to meeting up with the squad for pre-season and will be ready to play my part in helping Ipswich try to get back in the Championship.’
