Izquierdo set for late start to 2019-20
Brighton winger Jose Izquierdo will miss the start of the 2019-20 campaign after undergoing surgery on his knee.
The Colombian was struggling with a knee issue in the latter stages of 2018-19 but opted to delay a second round of surgery until Brighton’s top-flight status was confirmed.
Izquierdo initially suffered the injury at the 2018 World Cup, which eventually required surgery, before he tore the cartilage in his knee against Crystal Palace in December.
He did play a part from the bench in the latter stages of the season but won’t be available for Graham Potter’s first game in charge.
The injury has also ruled Izquierdo out of the Copa America in Brazil this summer.
