Spurs talking to La Liga side over £54m swoop – Report
Spurs are reportedly lining up Real Betis’ Giovani Lo Celso as a £54m replacement for Christian Eriksen, who could go to Real Madrid.
Spanish newspaper AS claims Tottenham have been in talks with Betis for days and could end up forking out a record fee for the playmaker, who spent last season on loan from Paris Saint-Germain.
Betis triggered their option to buy the Argentinian in April and should end up paying between 25-30m euros for him – but there is a chance to make an instant profit from Spurs.
The report claims it would cost 60m euros – or just over £54m – to make the deal happen and that 20 per cent of the fee would go back to Paris as part of a sell-on clause.
If Spurs complete the signing of the 23-year-old it could signal the end of Eriksen’s six-year spell at the club with the Dane then likely to be sold – probably to Real Madrid.
The ex-Ajax star has just one more year left on his contract in London and back in January, AS reported that he would not be extending that deal.
