CEO confirms Sancho will stay

Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke turned down a bid for star man Jadon Sancho.

Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke is convinced that star man Jadon Sancho will not be departing the club in the summer.

Sancho has been excellent in his breakthrough season with Lucien Favre’s side, scoring 13 goals in 43 appearances in all competitions.

His form led to an inclusion in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for their Nations League matches against Croatia and Spain in October and has since established himself as an England regular.

Sancho’s burgeoning reputation has seen him linked with a host of clubs, including moves to the Premier League with his old club Manchester City as well as Manchester United.

Dortmund have seen all too often their stars being sold or moved on – most notably Robert Lewandowski to Bayern Munich – but Watzke is confident that Sancho will be at the club for at least another season.

‘It can be assumed that Jadon will not play more than 10 years at BVB, but we have clear agreements about the present,’ he told Bild.

‘Jadon is not on the market and plays next season guaranteed at Borussia Dortmund.’
