PSG boss refuses to confirm pair’s future
PSG boss Thomas Tuchel admits he is uncertain whether star duo Neymar and Kylian Mbappe will be at the club next season.
The duo, who are the two most expensive footballers of all time, have both been constantly linked with moves away from the French champions, who failed to get beyond the round pf 16 stage in the Champions League this season, suffering a shock 3-1 home defeat to Manchester United to bow out on away goals.
Mbappe revealed last week that he was apparently considering his future at the club after another poor European campaign, while Neymar has been linked with Real Madrid ever since he moved to the Parc des Princes for £198 million from Barcelona.
Possible moves away are not just related to furthering their own careers of course but to also satisfy any lingering doubts about the club’s Financial Fair Play breaches.
And, Tuchel says that while he would like them to stay to help with his ‘project’, he cannot make any promises.
‘I am used to this.
Now it is May, the stuff that I say now might not be true next month,’ he told Sky Sports.
‘Things are like they are, there is a lot of speculation which means we have a lot of quality and talent.
‘My wish as a manager and as a coach is clear, I want all my players to stay at PSG and stay with our project.
The work is not finished, it has just started.
‘My wish is clear, but I can’t promise as that would be naïve and I don’t want to be naïve in this business.’
