Rangers are facing a battle to re-sign PFA Scotland Young Player of the Year Ryan Kent.

Boss Steven Gerrard wants the Liverpool winger to return to Ibrox on loan following his successful season at the club.

However, according to the Daily Record, English Championship side Leeds have now joined Premier League newcomers Aston Villa in the chase to take Kent on loan.

Liverpool are believed to be happy to let the 22-year-old depart on a temporary basis but would also be open to bids for the player.

Gerrard is currently shaping his squad ahead of the 2019/20 season which will begin with a Europa League qualifier on July 11.

He has already signed Jordan Jones and Jake Hastie, while a deal for Birmingham striker Greg Stewart, who spent last season on loan at Kilmarnock and Aberdeen, is expected to be finalised soon.

Gerrard has also been linked with a move for another player from his former club – Sheyi Ojo – while bids have been tabled for Oldham defender George Edmundson.
