Blues could pass on Kovacic option – report
Chelsea are thought to be considering passing up the option to sign Mateo Kovacic on a permanent deal this summer.
Even with the club appealing to the Court of Arbitration for Sport over FIFA’s two-window transfer suspension, the Blues would still be able to take up an option to sign the Real Madrid midfielder this summer, whether they are successful or not in proceedings.
Kovacic joined the west Londoners on a season-long loan deal, which included the option to buy this summer.
However, with Maurizio Sarri’s future uncertain at Stamford Bridge as reports link him with a move to Juventus, Kovacic could find himself back with Los Blancos.
Kovacic was in Sarri’s plans at the Bridge but if the Italian coach is no longer with the Blues that could see the end of the Croatian’s time at the Premier League outfit.
