The Black Cats released their retained list for the 2019/20 season on their official website on Tuesday.

‘When their current deals expire on June 30, 2019, Adam Matthews, Luke Molyneux, Max Stryjek and Robbin Ruiter will leave the club,’ Sunderland confirmed.

Wales defender Matthews made over 50 appearances for the Black Cats, while Molyneux spent the second half of last season on loan at Hartlepool.

Dutch goalkeeper Ruiter made 26 appearances during a two-year spell at the Stadium of Light, but Polish goalkeeperStryjek did not feature for the first team.

Sunderland will spend a second successive season in Sky Bet League One after losing to Charlton in last month’s play-off final.
