Giggs fears missing out on Euro 2020
Ryan Giggs believes Wales may have to win all of their remaining Group E matches to qualify for Euro 2020 after defeat in Hungary.
Wales went down 1-0 in Budapest on Tuesday as a late Mate Patkai strike proved the difference.
The defeat leaves Giggs’ side in fourth spot in Group E with three points from as many games, six points behind pacesetters Hungary and three adrift of Croatia and Slovakia.
The top two teams qualify for Euro 2020 and manager Giggs believes Wales may need a perfect record in their final five games if they are to reach the tournament proper.
‘I know there are still a lot of points but we have made it really difficult for ourselves,’ said Giggs, as reported by the BBC.
‘You look at the games, we still had enough chances to win the games.
In our defence, it is tough – not enough of our players were at peak fitness.
‘But we have to probably win nearly every game now.
We are probably relying on teams around us to drop points, which they will do because it is competitive.
‘Obviously we have to start winning and, if not win all the games, then the majority of them.’
