Clarets face Saints opener
Burnley will kick off the new Premier League season with the visit of Southampton after the 2019-2020 fixtures were released.
In a tough-looking opener, the Clarets welcome Ralph Hasenhuttl’s men to Turf Moor on August 10 before making the trip to north London to face Arsenal at the Emirates seven days later.
Sean Dyche will next take his men to Molineux for a showdown with an impressive Wolves outfit before Champions League winners Liverpool arrive in the north west on the final day of August in what looks a daunting match for the Lancashire side.
Burnley made a dreadful start to the 2018-19 league campaign, losing 10 and winning only two of their first 15 games, and it seemed as though relegation was a possibility.
However, with the Europa League out of the way, they managed to rally to finish 15th and preserve their top-flight status.
Dyche will not want a repeat of that slow beginning in the coming season and will face the same side on the opening day as in August 2018 – albeit on their own patch after playing out a 0-0 draw with Saints at St Mary’s to open proceedings last term.
