Liverpool opener for Norwich
Norwich’s return to the Premier League will begin against the European champions, with a trip to Anfield to take on Liverpool in early August.
The Canaries are now back in the top flight after spending three seasons in the Championship and will hope to establish themselves in England’s top division under Daniel Farke.
A sold start is important to boost the players’ confidence but things will not get much tougher than playing the Merseyside giants on their own patch.
Jurgen Klopp’s side did not lose a Premier League match on home soil last term, winning 17 of 19, while they were only beaten once on their travels, ending up a point behind champions Manchester City in the race for the title.
The first home game of the campaign sees Newcastle United arrive at Carrow Road but it is unclear whether Rafael Benitez will still be in charge of the Magpies.
The following weekend will be another tough test as Chelsea arrive in East Anglia before the month ends with a visit to the capital to play West Ham United.
Norwich are among the favourites for relegation but, in Farke, they have a talented manager who instils confidence in his men – a vital ingredient to survive in arguably the toughest league in world football.
Summer recruitment will be vital and it remains be seen who lines up for Norwich in Liverpool.
