Middleton set to leave Rangers on loan
Rangers winger Glenn Middleton is expected to complete his loan move to Doncaster over the next couple of days.
Scotland under-21 international Middleton featured regularly under Steven Gerrard last season, scoring five goals in 28 appearances across all competitions, although most of those opportunities came during the first half of the campaign.
Indeed, Middleton’s first-team chances dried up as the season developed and his opportunities are likely to be restricted further following the arrival at Ibrox of Jordan Jones from Kilmarnock.
Middleton certainly feels he needs to be playing more regular first-team football to continue his development and it appears a loan switch to League One outfit Doncaster is now on the cards.
Rovers reached the League One play-offs last season and they are believed to be in the market for a new wide-man, following the end of Mallik Wilks’ loan spell from Leeds.
Middleton appears to fit the bill for Grant McCann’s side, although the terms of the loan are yet to be agreed, with Rangers likely to insert a call-back clause into the deal which would allow the 19-year-old to return to Ibrox in January.
