Former Barnsley defender Zeki Fryers signs for Swindon
Swindon have signed defender Zeki Fryers following his recent departure from Barnsley.
Left-back Fryers, 26, has agreed a two-year deal with Swindon after his contract at Barnsley expired at the end of the season.
Swindon boss Richie Wellens told the club’s official website: ‘It’sa potentially-fantastic signing – if you look at his career he’s had some huge clubs.
‘That shows the talent he’s got.
This is a good chance for him to play week-in-week-out and get some real consistency in his game.
‘ Former England youth international Fryers began his career at Manchester United and made six first-team appearances before joining Belgian side Standard Liege.
He returned to England with Tottenham in 2013, making 16 first-team appearances, and was signed by Crystal Palace for 5million in 2014.
Fryers had loan spells at Rotherham and Ipswich and in 2017 completed a free transfer to Barnsley, for whom he made over 30 appearances in all competitions.
