Lions boss Harris fails in fresh bid to sign R’s striker Smith
Millwall have had an initial bid for QPR striker Matt Smith rejected but are set to return with an improved offer.
Lions boss Neil Harris has been a fan of the 30-year-old hitman for some time and also failed in his efforts to sign him during the January transfer window.
But with Lee Gregory departing at the end of his contract and veteran Steve Morison also leaving to join Shrewsbury on a season-long loan deal last week, there is a big gap to fill in the strike force at The Den.
Smith, who has scored 23 goals in 102 appearances since moving to Loftus Road from Fulham in January 2017, could be made available for the right price as new R’s boss Mark Warburton looks to re-shape his squad this summer.
