Jesus given vote of confidence
Gabriel Jesus has received assurances Pep Guardiola is not planning to bring in another forward player before the start of the new campaign.
The Brazil striker is currently performing well at the Copa America tournament, although reports in his homeland have suggested he is unhappy at continuing to play second fiddle to Sergio Aguero in the Manchester City pecking order.
City insiders, however, have pointed out he was last week handed the number nine shirt and Guardiola has also spoken privately with the lively 22-year-old.
It is understood the City boss is happy with his attacking options and saw signs towards the end of last season that the former Palmeiras starlet has come to terms with the physical side of the game in England.
The Citizens had been linked with making a £100m-plus bid for Benfica’s young forward Joao Felix, who is now in advanced talks with Atletico Madrid.
However, bosses at the Etihad have distanced themselves from recruiting another striker and Jesus is happy with the vote of confidence being shown in him by Guardiola.
