Rotherham sign Plymouth striker Ladapo for club-record fee
Rotherham have signed striker Freddie Ladapo from Plymouth for a club-record fee.
The sum paid is undisclosed but it eclipses the 400,000-plus figure the Millers stumped up to bring in Jon Taylor from Peterborough three years ago.
Ladapo has agreed a three-year contract at the AESSEAL New York Stadium and becomes boss Paul Warne’s third summer signing following the arrivals of Shaun MacDonald from Wigan and Carlton Morris from Norwich.
The 26-year-old, who counts Southend, Crystal Palace and Oldham among his former clubs, scored 19 goals in all competitions last season despite Plymouth’s relegation from League One.
Ladapo said on his new club’s website: ‘It was a club that really spoke to me, which sold me the dream of wanting to come here and do well.
‘I have a lot of physical attributes, pace, strength, can run in behind and can obviously score goals as you can see.
‘I have a real determination to do well and I think I will do well at this football club.’
