Wilder ‘confident’ of imminent transfer breakthrough for Blades
Chris Wilder is ‘confident’ of bringing some transfer targets to Sheffield United ‘in the next week or two’.
The Blades boss is keen to bolster his squad for their return to the Premier League and has been heavily linked with a host of players, including Swansea striker Ollie McBurnie, QPR playmaker Luke Freeman, Huddersfield Town midfielder Jonathan Hogg and defender Darrah Lenihan of Blackburn Rovers in recent weeks.
And, while there has been no breakthrough to date, Wilder is in no doubt that the transfer market is about to burst into life in the near future.
He told the Yorkshire Post: ‘We have identified players and a little bit of a strategy and thinking of who we want.
‘We want players of a certain age with a hunger and desire to go and compete in the Premier League and prove themselves.
‘There have been a lot of names bandied about, but we are hopeful now.
‘A lot of people have been away and taking holidays and we have been getting international dialing tones whether it is players, agents or managers or whatever.
‘But now everybody is back and I think in the next week or two that everything will kick on and we are confident we will start seeing some names come in and that we will get deals done permanently.’
