Raman ready to take next step with Schalke
Schalke new-boy Benito Raman says he was so determined to join the club, he turned down interest from rival clubs to complete the move.
The 24-year-old impressed for Fortuna Dusseldorf last season and Schalke moved quickly to snap up the Belgium forward, who jumped at the opportunity.
Raman can play anywhere along the frontline and cannot wait to get started.
‘I had a fantastic time at Fortuna Düsseldorf, but I wanted to make the next step up,’ he said.
‘When I learnt of Schalke’s interest from my agent, I was raring to go.
‘Therefore, I set my sights on it and decided I wouldn’t be interested in any other parties if they were to come in for me.
‘I wanted to be a Schalke player no matter what.
FC Schalke 04 is one of Germany’s biggest clubs, even if last season didn’t go to plan on the pitch.
I want to be part of a successful side next season and am delighted that the transfer was able to go through successfully.
‘ He added: ‘It took some time but eventually I’m now able to join in the first few weeks of pre-season training.’
