Wilder happy with Morrison’s contribution
Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder says he has liked the look of Ravel Morrison since taking him on a pre-season trial.
The Blades, who have signed two players so far this pre-season in QPR’s Luke Freeman and Everton’s Phil Jagielka, are taking a closer look at the former Manchester United prodigy.
Morrison’s career history has been fragmented and nomadic after failing to progress as originally expected after emerging as a young player at Old Trafford.
His last club was Ostersunds in Sweden where he made six appearances, and he has also played for Lazio in Serie A and Atlas in the Mexican top flight after previous spells with West Ham, QPR and Birmingham.
Now, Morrison has been handed a chance back in England with the Premier League newcomers and may be in line to earn a permanent deal with the Blades after impressing Wilder in pre-season so far.
‘I’m really disappointed that people haven’t seen Rav,’ Wilder said after Morrison missed yesterday’s open training session in Vale do Lobo, with a minor heel injury.
‘He’s been really good.
We’ve enjoyed him being with us.
We’re looking to explore that one and see how it goes.
But he’s impressed everybody.
The recruitment, that’s where we are and we sometimes have to go down that road.’
