Meyer wants more at Palace
Crystal Palace midfielder Max Meyer says he’s determined to play more games and score more goals for the Eagles this season.
Meyer joined 12 months ago from Schalke and was tipped to be a key man for Roy Hodgson’s side after impressing in Germany.
However, he was not always first choice and only made 15 Premier League starts in 2018-19, having to bide his time as he adapted to his new surroundings.
The Germany international, who has scored just two goals for the Londoners so far, admitted it took him time to acclimatise although he’s confident he can now kick on after getting a year under his belt.
He told the Palace website: ‘We have so many games in the season – more than 40 games.
You can’t play every game as a starter, but I hope I can start more games in the league next season.
‘I need to score more, that’s what I think.
I have to score more – that’s what I’m trying to do, then I’ll be even happier than last season.
I scored just two goals, that’s not enough for me.
‘Last season was my first season in a new country and league, and I think the second year will be even better.
I hope so: more goals, more assists, more points as a team.’
