United ready for technical director
Manchester United have created an office for the appointment of a new technical director, according to Carrington insiders.
The Red Devils are yet to nail someone down for the role, which has seen former players including Rio Ferdinand and Patrice Evra linked with the position.
However, it would seem bosses at Old Trafford are continuing with their efforts and it is understood an office at their training HQ was set up last month.
And United insiders have stated a plaque with ‘technical director’ has since gone on the door, directly across the way from boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s own office.
Senior United sources have also dismissed reports the club are wanting to install a ‘director of football’, responsible for dictating actual transfer policy.
It is believed United retain confidence in the liaison which takes place on targets between Solskjaer, transfer negotiator Matt Judge and executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward.
A technical director may suggest much more of a ‘nuanced’ requirement, helping United to build a defined playing strategy across the various age platforms.
