Yann Songo’o joins Scunthorpe
Scunthorpe manager Paul Hurst believes new signing Yann Songo’o will bring character and experience to the dressing room.
The 27-year-old defender has signed a one-year deal and is the Iron’s fifth signing of the summer.
Songo’o has previously played for Blackburn and most recently spent three years at Plymouth before departing in the summer after making 139 appearances.
‘He brings good experience and has won promotion from League Two with Plymouth.
He’s then had a couple of seasons with them in League One and knows what that’s about too,’ Hurst told the club website.
‘He’s played a lot of games in the last few seasons and we’ll need that aspect.
He’s also a bubbly character, will have a voice and that’s something we’ve touched on in the past that we need.
‘He’s a strong, physical player, but can play as well.
Hopefully he can show that in the coming weeks and months.
‘ Scunthorpe also confirmed the departure of midfielder Funso Ojo, who has moved to Aberdeen for an undisclosed fee after two seasons at Glanford Park.
