Bruce backed by Newcastle star Hayden

Isaac Hayden says Steve Bruce is a ‘good appointment’ and believes the new Newcastle manager will ‘bring togetherness’ to the squad.

Midfielder Hayden worked with Bruce during a loan spell at Hull City in the 2015-16 campaign before he made the move to St James’ Park.

The 24-year-old is aware some of the fans are disappointed the former Sheffield Wednesday manager has replaced Rafael Benitez but, with the continued uncertainty regarding a potential takeover and a limited transfer budget this summer, Hayden feels Bruce is the best man to take charge.

‘I know the type of manager that he is and the type of man that he is,’ Hayden told the Shields Gazette.

‘In the circumstances at the club at the minute, I know he can bring togetherness.

I know what he does on the training field and what style of play he wants to bring in.

For us, at this moment in time, it’s a good appointment.

‘I think everyone’s realistic and knows where the club’s at at the minute.

We haven’t got superstars in the team that are going to make the difference by themselves like other teams have.’
