Atletico lodge La Liga complaint over Griezmann deal
Atletico Madrid have lodged a formal complaint with La Liga over Barcelona’s signing of Antoine Griezmann.
The 28-year-old forward has penned a five-year deal at the Nou Camp after Barca agreed to pay his 120m buyout clause.
However, it is the numbers involved that are causing problems, with Atletico claiming that the Catalans should have to pay an extra 80m euros as his release clause was set at 200m euros when the deal was first agreed.
Griezmann was presented as a new Blaugrana signing on Sunday and it is not known whether the latest action will prevent him from playing for the Spanish giants, but it seems as though the issue is far from over.
Barca president Josep Maria Bartomeu has predictably rejected Atletico’s version of events and claimed that first contact was made after Griezmann had announced his desire to leave.
