Reds man on his way out of Lille
Lille president Gerard Lopez has confirmed that Liverpool target Nicolas Pepe is close to leaving the club this summer.
The winger is a transfer target for a number of European clubs, with Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester United, Barcelona and Bayern Munich all interested.
Pepe scored 22 Ligue 1 goals last season, a total only bettered by Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappe.
He also grabbed 11 assists and Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp believes he could add a new dimension to the attack, with Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane already in his starting XI.
Liverpool have been waiting to announce a big summer signing and Lopez has confirmed the Lille man is on his way out.
He told La Voix du Nord: ‘In terms of departures and arrivals, if a player leaves, we will go and get what we need.
‘For Nico, it is almost done and he could have left last summer.
It is true that there are big offers and big clubs in for him, so I think [he will leave].
‘Aside from that, you never know in football.’
