Plymouth sign former Everton midfielder Baxter
Plymouth have signed former Everton midfielder Jose Baxter on a short-term deal.
Baxter, 27, who spent the last two seasons at Oldham before his recent departure, was unveiled to Pilgrims fans at an open training session on Thursday by manager Ryan Lowe.
‘With just over a week to go before the beginning of the new Sky Bet League Two season, Argyle manager Ryan Lowe has boosted his squad with the signing of Jose Baxter,’ Plymouth announced on their official website.
Baxter became Everton’s youngest Premier League player on the opening day of the 2008/9 season when he made his debut in a home defeat to Blackburnat the age of 16 years and 191 days.
He made 15 appearances in all competitions for Everton before moving on to Oldham and then Sheffield United.
Baxter was suspended twice for drug abuse during his spell at Bramall Lane and returned to Everton before moving on again in the summer of 2018, back to Oldham, for whom he scored four goals in 34 appearances during his second spell.
