Gerrard to bide his time

Steven Gerrard says his Rangers players can right the wrongs of two years ago when they face Progres Niederkorn in the Europa League.

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard says his squad is taking shape ahead of the new season and he plans to bide his time in the transfer market.

The Gers are focused on their Europa League match against FC Midtjylland in Denmark although Gerrard still has several irons in the fire.

Manchester City winger Brandon Barker is one target, according to reports, with the 22-year-old set to arrive before Thursday’s transfer deadline.

Liverpool’s Ryan Kent is another target and Gerrard still has until September 2 to complete the club’s business.

The Scottish window shuts later than the English equivalent and Gerrard claims his squad is nearly complete.

“I think we’re trying to shape the squad, to have it complete. I think we’re very close,” he said.

“I think in the coming days it could be big in terms of the window in England. We will see what happens over the next couple of days.”
