Gracia to be patient with Sarr
Watford manager Javi Gracia says he has no reason to rush winger Ismaila Sarr into the Hornets side but admits he is excited to work with him.
The 21-year-old became the club’s record signing on deadline day after agreeing a £40million switch from French Ligue 1 side Rennes.
He trained with his new teammates for the first time on Wednesday after making the move but will not be available for this weekend’s game against Everton, with his lack of fitness cited as the reason.
However, manager Javi Gracia admits he is happy to remain patient for the record-breaking signing sand says he will contribute a lot once fit.
“He needs time to be ready, after a long time resting he needs time to recover his best condition, his best training,” Gracia said.
“I expect he will be ready as quickly as possible. He is for sure ready (for the Premier League), he has a lot of skills, good qualities to help us.
“He is, in my opinion, a very good offensive player, his speed, his offensive mentality as a winger or a striker he can help us. We will be stronger offensively with him.”
Sarr was involved in the African Cup of Nations for Senegal and played every match during their run-up to the final, hence his lack of proper pre-season and fitness.

He scored one goal in the 3-0 victory over Senegal and his stock continued to rise after a great season with Rennes.
In Ligue 1, he scored eight goals in 35 games for Rennes and 13 in 50 in all competitions as he helped them win the Coupe de France after defeating PSG in the final.
Watford will hope to have him fit and ready as soon as possible after their disastrous start to the Premier League season.
They were comprehensively beaten 3-0 by Graham Potter’s Brighton at Vicarage Road, with an own goal from Abdoulaye Doucoure and strikes from Florian Andone and Neal Maupay doing the damage.
Watford are also waiting for one of their other major pre-season signings, Danny Welbeck, to make his debut as he gets back to full fitness following his release from Arsenal.
Another summer arrival, Craig Dawson, played the full match against Brighton, in his first game after joining from Championship outfit West Brom.
