Marseille forward set for loan departure

Marseille are waiting to learn the extent of striker Kostas Mitroglou's injury after he was forced off playing for Greece on Saturday.

Marseille striker Kostas Mitroglou is reportedly set to join PSV on a season-long loan deal.

The Greek forward has been with the Stade Velodrome outfit since 2017 and enjoyed a fairly productive first season, netting nine goals in 19 Ligue 1 matches.

However, he could not replicate that form in his second season and only managed three goals 14 games, which meant he was shipped out on loan in January.

Galatasaray was his destination but he also struggled for form there and only scored once in seven Turkish Super Lig games.

Now, he looks set for another temporary departure with the club well stocked for forwards in Florian Thauvin, Valerie Germain, and Dario Benedetto.

PSV have been looking for a striker following the injury to Sam Lammers and the departure of Luuk de Jong to Sevilla.

They only have young forward Donyell Malen in reserve and are keen to bolster their numbers up top.

The 31-year-old is due to head to the Philips Stadion for a medical on Thursday before completing his loan move.
