Monreal closing in on Sociedad switch
Arsenal defender Nacho Monreal is reportedly on the verge of securing a permanent move to Real Sociedad.
The Spaniard has started both of Arsenal’s Premier League games so far this season but is expected to lose his starting role when Kieran Tierney regains his fitness.
Monreal was told earlier in the summer that he is free to find a new club and it appears he has decided on a switch to the Basque region.
He has been on Arsenal’s books since 2013 following a move from Malaga for a fee reported to be in the region of £8.5million.
Reports in Spain claim the left-back will be handed a two-year contract at the Anoeta as they look to force through the deal before the end of the transfer window.
The 33-year-old hails from Pamplona and has previously hinted that a move back to the Basque region could be on the cards.
