Ramos backs ‘great player’ Bale

Defender Sergio Ramos feels Gareth Bale is a vital part of the Real Madrid side and should be left to get on with playing football.

Not many at the Bernabeu club would have felt that 30-year-old Bale would still be in Madrid at this stage of the season after he was heavily linked with a move away during the summer transfer window.

It seemed as though the Wales international forward would be heading to China for a huge pay day before Real pulled the plug on the deal at the 11th hour.

That appeared a strange turn of events after manager Zinedine Zidane has earlier state that it would be “better for all concerned” if Bale left the club.

It seemed the former Tottenham man had fallen out with the French tactician and sections of the Los Blancos’ faithful had taken to booing the man who has scored 104 goals from 234 appearances in all competitions for the La Liga giants.

However, he remained with Real and has scored a couple of goals and also adding an assist from three outings this term.

Ramos suggested there may be some truth in the rumours about what has happened between the two men but made it clear just how important the Cardiff-born ace is to their hopes.

“I think Bale’s a great player and he’s been really important for the club in the years he’s been with us,” he told the Daily Mail.

“You find many things in the press. Some are true, some are not. We live in this world and we have to try to be above all that.”
