Arsenal v Vitoria Guimaraes Team News

Arsenal will be looking to maintain their perfect start to this season's Europa League when they take on Vitoria Guimaraes at Emirates Stadium on Thursday.

Unai Emery’s Arsenal currently sit top of of Group F after recording back-to-back wins over Eintracht Frankfurt and Standard Liege without even conceding a goal, although they will head into Thursday’s contest looking to bounce back from their shock Premier League defeat at Sheffield United on Monday.

With another league match to come against Crystal Palace this weekend, Emery is likely to make a number of changes to his side for the visit of Vitoria, with the Spaniard having already confirmed he plans to rest Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and David Luiz.

That’s not to say Emery is underestimating Vitoria, who have lost both their games in this season’s Europa League, as they do sit fourth in the Portuguese Primeira Liga.

“We respect them,” Emery told reporters. “They are fourth in the table [in Portugal] and are a very competitive team. They lost the first two games but the games were close.”

Reiss Nelson is Arsenal’s only injury absentee for the match, as he continues to work his way back from a knee ligament injury, while Kieran Tierney and Hector Bellerin could also continue their integration back into the first-team fold following their own long-term layoffs.

Alexandre Lacazette made his first appearance since the beginning of September when he came on as a substitute against Sheffield United and he could now be handed a place in the starting XI.

Vitoria have only won one of their last four games across all competitions and they have injury concerns heading into the match, with Ukrainian defender Valeriy Bondarenko having been ruled out with a broken hand, while midfielder Lucas Evangelista is sidelined with a thigh problem.

Os Vimaranense also have doubts over goalkeeper Miguel Silva, who has only just returned to first-team training following his own injury lay-off.
