Oxford make it eight games unbeaten with comfortable win over Rochdale
Oxford extended their unbeaten league run to eight games with another classy win – 3-0 at home to 10-man Rochdale.
Dale had won their previous three matches but found themselves two goals down in 27 minutes.
Josh Ruffels prodded home from four yards after Alex Gorrin headed Cameron Brannagan’s corner back into the box after 20 minutes.
And seven minutes later Tariqe Fosu followed up with a fine finish after Brannagan’s effort came back off the crossbar.
It was relentless from the U’s as James Henry almost turned in a Chris Cadden cross and Jamie Mackie twice went close, goalkeeper Jay Lynch saving well from one header.
Any hope the visitors had of staging a comeback ended when Aaron Wilbraham was sent off six minutes before the break for an over-the-top challenge on Fosu.
The second half stayed one-way traffic with Mark Sykes, Shandon Baptiste and Mackie all firing wide before Sam Long made it 3-0 four minutes from time when Lynch could only parry Henry’s drive.
