Bristol City and Charlton charged by the FA
Bristol City and Charlton have been charged by the Football Association following the recent Sky Bet Championship clash between the two clubs.
The charges relate to an incident that occurred late on in the Robins’ 2-1 victory at Ashton Gate last week.
Home striker Famara Diedhiou was shown a straight red card four minutes from time for kicking out at Jason Pearce while the Charlton defender was on the floor.
This led to a mass confrontation involving players from both sides.
An FA statement said: ‘Bristol City and Charlton Athletic have been charged for being in breach of FA Rule E20 following their EFL Championship fixture on Wednesday October 23 2019.
‘It is alleged that both clubs failed to ensure that their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion in or around the 86th minute of the fixture.
Both clubs have until 1800 on Wednesday October 30 2019 to respond.
‘ The melee was not the end of the drama in the match as Josh Brownhill scored eight minutes into stoppage time to seal the win for 10-man City.
