City travel to Championship outfit Huddersfield on Saturday in the fifth round of the FA Cup and manager Pep Guardiola is expected to make a number of changes to his side, with a Champions League last-16 clash against Monaco coming up on Tuesday.
Kompany has started just once in 2017 but could be set to line-up in the starting XI, with either John Stones and Aleksandar Kolarov partnering him.
Guardiola may opt for a double change at the heart of defence with Nicolas Otamendi also pushing for a recall.
Goalkeeper Claudio Bravo, midfielder Fabian Delph and full-back Gael Clichy are also in contention for starting berths, while striker Sergio Aguero is expected to be recalled following Gabriel Jesus’ injury blow.
Stoke could face a battle to keep Xherdan Shaqiri as reports have claimed Mark Hughes wants him at Southampton next season.
Bayern Munich have entered the race to Emre Can, who continues to talk up a move away from Liverpool this summer.
