Canaries' chief Chris Hughton has made no secret of his desire to strengthen his forward line at Carrow Road this January transfer window with several reported bids of up to £8million for Celtic's Gary Hooper so far being rebuffed.
Therefore, it seems the former Newcastle and Birmingham boss has cast his net elsewhere and is attempting to sign two forwards for half of what he might have shelled out for Hooper.
QPR's 27-year-old Scottish hitman Mackie could be available for around £3million, after his current boss Harry Redknapp snapped up Loic Remy from Marseille earlier this month to try and haul the Londoners out of the Premier League relegation places.
Mackie, who has two goals in 22 appearances, has slipped down the pecking order as a result and would no doubt be willing to join the Canaries where his chances of first-team action will be greater.
Meanwhile, MLS outfit Sporting Kansas' Sierra Leone international Kamara could also join in a £1.2million deal.
The 28-year-old did have a spell with Premier League rivals Stoke before Christmas, but it seems Hughton sees something in him which Potters boss Tony Pulis didn't.
