NFL officials have released the opening week fixtures as well as the high-profile Thanksgiving Day fixtures, before releasing the full schedule for the 2009 campaign.
The Thursday night showdown at Heinz Field will kick-off the new NFL season, with last season’s champions entertaining the team team with the best regular season record of 2008, as Pittsburgh do battle with Tennessee.
The first Sunday night match-up see old rivals Green Bay Packers entertain the Chicago Bears, with the opening Monday Night Football seeing a double header – Buffalo Bills v New England Patriots and Oakland Raiders v San Diego Chargers.
The NFL have also announced that three games will take place on Thanksgiving Day starting with Green Bay v Detroit, which will be followed by Oakland v Dallas and New York Giants v Denver Broncos.
