Barkley looking to emulate Hazard
Chelsea's new signing Ross Barkley says he wants to become as good as team-mate Edan Hazard after joining him at Stamford Bridge.
Barkley signed on from Everton for £15m in mid-week with many pundits suggesting he will take Hazard’s place if the Belgium ace is poached away by Real Madrid in the summer.
Barkley is thinking more along the lines of playing alongside Hazard and one day becoming as good as him as he strives to become one of the best players in the game.
“You can’t put many players up there with Hazard, he is unbelievable,” Barkley said. “He is up there with the best in the world.
“I have been training here for a couple of weeks and you can see how sharp he is.
“I am not the same type of player but if I could get anywhere near his level now I would be made up.
“I want to get to a level where I am regarded as one of the best and coming to a club like Chelsea gives me the right platform to improve.
“I want to be regarded as a world-class midfielder.”
